AREA OF BIODIVERSITY AND CONSERVATION
RESEARCH LINES
As one could may be suppose of a biodiversity area, it is difficult to summarize our reseach lines... they are too diverse! In the following we present the research lines in our area, arranged under three headings: studied organisms, habitats, and research topics.
Which kinds of organisms do we study? The diversity of organisms we deal with covers the whole biological spectrum, from microorganisms to mammals.
- Bacteria (Natalia González, Mª Carmen Molina, Nuria Navarro),
- Plankton (Natalia González, Nuria Navarro),
- Macroalgae (Brezo Martínez, Rosa Viejo),
- Lichens (Gregorio Aragón, Isabel Martínez, Mª Carmen Molina),
- Ferns (Myriam Catalá, Luis G. Quintanilla),
- Fungi (Ana Millanes),
- Angiosperms (Mª José Albert, Adrián Escudero, Luis Giménez, José Mª Iriondo, Arantzazu L. Luzuriaga, Fernando Maestre, Marcos Méndez, Rubén Milla, Ana M. Sánchez, Fernando Valladares),
- Macroinvertebrates (Procambarus clarkii) (Myriam Catalá),
- Insects (Jose Manuel González, David Gutiérrez),
- Fish (embryos of Danio rerio) (Myriam Catalá),
- Birds (Vicente Polo, Emilio Virgós),
- Mammals (Emilio Virgós).
In which kinds of habitats do we carry out our research? Although most of our work is done in Mediterranean habitats, it is not restricted to them and includes:
- Oceans (Natalia González, Nuria Navarro),
